Hope

There is always hope-

This piece is not meant to be some ecological statement but more of inner look of life around us and what we can or are willing to do with it. Life can be full of ugliness and the garbage that is tossed in our direction. So we have a choice, we can sit and wallow in it letting all around us know how unjust things are, hoping they will subscribe to our point of view or we can just plant something and create beauty within the turmoil, which means changing you and your situation. It is all up to you, it just depends on your attitude.

production notes and updates
finished
This is done- I darkened the outside quite a bit. Plus I made a major change on the girl which fits the whole piece so much better and really sets the tone better. I find that as I jump through moods that it tends to help a piece and right now i sense a bit of emotional attachment to this piece, as I struggle through the trials placed before me. Yet there is one thing that I must admit, that only I can control the outcome of the trees that I choose to plant.

update
I just need to work on this right now- more for me than anything else.

update 6
I find it ironic as i deal with my injury to my back that i am inspired to work on this and finish it off- finally- still adding shadows and such then highlights

update 5
I have felt the need to return to this piece and start working through the detail process. In doing so I found a few things that needed to be added on to make more of the statement that I wanted or believed to be left there. It was important to me to make sure that certain details be added which as I step back have only enhanced the message I wanted to convey. I should have more on this piece soon. Enjoy

Update 4
There is a lot of detail to work through and the basic flats are taking longer than i thought- which is not bad because it is really letting me go a little deeper with this piece.

These are by far though not the final color schemes- they change as i move along- so the rich greens might head in a completely different direction

Update 3
Still working through the flats- still trying to figure the right vibe for this piece-

Update #2
Ok i just started the flats- these are not the final colors but as you can see the depth is starting to grow in this piece. I am though going to mute a lot of junk - this is to let me allow the central part of the piece to be much stronger and vibrant.

Update #1
This piece I inked twice, I was frustrated with the first try so right in the middle of it I started over. I am happier with this result and i look forward to working on the coloring

Very nice. I'll be looking forward to the updates. Do you normally color over the mid-tone?
:icontravsthebean:
:) thank you- I usually do - I just laid the color down to bump the lines up- I'll work it from there when i attack it with flats.

Do you ink traditionally and at full size?
:icontravsthebean:
All my prints are inked by hand and full size- I just started selling the inks of my prints this last year. While there are about 300 colored pieces of each one there is only one set of inks, which gives them their value. I found people wanted my traditional inks so I will continue to do them that way:)
